Latin

Latin provides a window into another world—the ancient past. Studying Latin offers students the opportunity to develop their knowledge of the Latin language. But at the same time, they develop an appreciation of the literature, culture, history, and intellectual achievements of Roman antiquity that have contributed to the development of Western civilization.

The courses in Latin examine the language as well as its influence on the constantly changing modern English language. A minor in Latin  complements many majors -- literature, language, history, philosophy, and the arts, all of which find their roots in classical antiquity.
